FINANCING OF ROSE BOWL STADIUM IMPROVEMENTS WILL BE SUBJECT OF PUBLIC MEETINGS

The iconic Rose Bowl Stadium, a national historic landmark constructed in 1922, is one of the oldestfootball stadiums in the nation and has hosted annual Rose Bowl football games, five Super Bowls, Olympic competitions, World Cup of Soccer and Women’s World CupUCLA home games, major concerts and countless other events.

On Monday, Oct. 4, in a workshop setting, the Pasadena City Council will learn more about renovation ofthe Rose Bowl Stadium.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the council chamber, room S249 atPasadena City Hall , 100 N. Garfield Ave. , and will be televised live on KPAS (cable channel 3 in Pasadena ) and via streaming video at www.cityofpasadena.net/publicaffairs.

The renovation plan includes public safety improvements, concourse improvements, new press box, premium seating, new entry gates, scoreboard and video board.

The proposed $152 million renovation project is in line with historically low interest rates, availability of Build America Bonds through the end of the year, a competitive construction bidding environment and agreement with key Rose Bowl Stadium partners including UCLA and the Tournament of Roses.

The plan for financing the improvements will be the topic of a special meeting of the Rose Bowl Operating Company on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Mediterranean Room at Brookside Clubhouse, 1133 Rosemont Ave. in Pasadena .

On Monday, Oct. 11, the Pasadena City Council will consider approving several documents during the regular meeting that will begin at 6:30 p.m., including the renovation project financing plan, renovation project scope, agreement with UCLA Regents, master license agreement with Tournament of Roses Association, agreement with International Sports Properties Inc., resolution creating new facilities and parking fees, bond financing documents, and amendment of the Rose Bowl Operating Company agreement related to philanthropic opportunities.
